About these terms

These terms explain how you may use NotTheRealAPI to test integrations with synthetic API responses and inspect test requests. By creating or using an account, you agree to them.

Your account

You need to be legally able to use the service. If you use NotTheRealAPI on behalf of a business or organisation, you confirm that you have authority to do so. Provide accurate account details, keep your account secure, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed it. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account.

Workspaces and team members

Workspace owners manage members, settings and receiver endpoints. Please grant access only to people who should be able to see and manage the workspace.

Using NotTheRealAPI

Use the service lawfully and for testing or other permitted development work. Do not attack or disrupt systems, bypass security controls, abuse or overload the service, or submit data you have no right to use. Use synthetic data wherever possible, and do not send real credentials, secrets or personal information unnecessarily.

Test data and receiver URLs

Keep receiver URLs private and use them only in appropriate test environments. Anyone with a valid URL may be able to send requests to its endpoint. Rotate or delete an endpoint if its URL is exposed. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle and retain test requests.

Plans, trials and payments

The current plan costs $25.00 per month or $270.00 per year. It includes a 7-day trial that currently needs no payment method. The price and billing interval are shown again at checkout. If you subscribe, you authorise recurring charges through Stripe, which processes payments.

Cancellation

You can cancel through Billing. Access continues until the end of the current paid period, when the subscription ends. If your trial expires without a subscription, product access locks while your workspace and its data remain in place. We provide refunds where the law requires them; otherwise, we do not offer refunds under these terms.

Service limits

The limits shown on our Pricing page apply to request volume, history, endpoints, environments and other usage. We may enforce them to keep the service reliable for everyone.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end access when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security threats, unlawful use, non-payment or a material breach of these terms. You can stop using the service and delete your account from Account Settings. The Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data when you do.

Your data

You keep your rights in information and configuration you submit. You allow us to use it as needed to provide and secure the service. Please do not submit data you are not authorised to use.

Our service and intellectual property

NotTheRealAPI, its software and its branding belong to us or our licensors. While your account is active, you have a limited, non-exclusive right to use the service for its intended purpose.

Third-party services

We use third-party services to help provide sign-in, email, hosting and payments. Their own terms and availability may apply when you use their services, including Stripe’s hosted payment pages.

Provider independence

NotTheRealAPI is independent from the third-party services represented by our scenarios. Provider names describe the systems our synthetic responses are designed to resemble. They do not imply endorsement, partnership or official compatibility.

Service availability and synthetic responses

We work to keep NotTheRealAPI available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Synthetic scenarios help you test integration behaviour, but they are not the real third-party service and may not reproduce every detail or edge case.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses or for losses caused by treating a synthetic test response as a guarantee of how a real third-party service will behave. Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow us to limit it.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. We will update the date above and give notice of material changes through the service or by email where appropriate. If you keep using the service after updated terms take effect, you accept them where the law permits.
